To the South of San Severino, the hills turn gradually into mountains, and just 35 km away from the farm visitors find themselves in the amazing landscape of the Monti Sibillini, that became Natural Reserve in 1992. To the East of the farm, just a few kilometers away, you can find the Natural Reserve of Abbadia a Fiastra with the Cistercense Monastery. Then the hills slope gently down towards the Adriatic sea , approx 45 km from San Severino. To the North, visitors will come across the strikingly dramatic scenery of the Natural Reserve of Mount Conero, with its high white cliffs overlooking the Adriatic sea.

History: San Severino is an historic town, founded in the Roman age owing much of its position to its location on a major route, the Via Flaminia. The Roman town was set on the top of Mount Nero , today the “upper” San Severino, called Castello (Castle), with the Torre Comunale and the Duomo Vecchio (also called Santuario di San Severino Vescovo). Sometime after 1000 AD the “lower” San Severino was founded. Outside the walls that encircle the “lower town,” along the river Potenza, medieval villages are today part of San Severino itself, Platea Mercati and the Piazza Ellittica. In the XVI century Palace Manuzzini are housed the Archaelogical Museum “G. Moretti” and the Gallery “P. Tacchi Venturi.”

Interesting towns and villages dot the area around San Severino: Camerino (18 km), Sarnano (35 km, remarkable for its Medieval and Renascence architecture), Recanati (where the famous Giacomo Leopardi was born), Loreto and of course Macerata, the main town in the area, notable for its churches and ancient palaces.
